EVENTS

XIXth Symposium: Kobe, Japan, 26-31 March, 2007

The International Seaweed Symposium (ISS) is held every three years under the auspices of the International Seaweed Association (ISA). It is the foremost international meeting on seaweed research and utilization. Scientific research plays a fundamental role in developing seaweed and seaweed products industries. The ISS provides a forum for scientists, technologists, industry and resource managers to present their latest research results and develop new synergies.

Conferences: 

The Macroalgal Workshop was held at Industrial Research Ltd in Lower Hutt on Friday 25 November from 9.15 am to 4.30 pm.  The aims of the workshop are (a) to bring together people interested in seaweeds and (b) for various researchers from around New Zealand to present short reviews of the seaweed-related projects they have undertaken in the last year or so.

INTERNATIONAL SEAWEED SYMPOSIUM

The XVIIIth International Seaweed Symposium was held in Bergen, Norway, 20-25 June 2004, organised by the International Seaweed Association and hosted by NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research):  http://www.niva.no/iss2004 

The 8th International Phycological Congress was held in Durban, South Africa, in August 2005, organised by the International Phycological Society: http://www.seaweed.ie/phycologia 

The Phycological Society of America meets annually, and the 2004 meeting was held in Virginia: http://www.psaalgae.org
